Each cup features an attached "lid" that covers about half of the opening on the cup to reduce spilling or splashing for an on-the-go beverage, and a hole for a reusable stainless steel straw that comes with the cup. All elements are dishwasher safe for easy cleaning. If you don't have a dishwasher or prefer to hand-wash, it would be easiest to clean the cup/straw with one of those long-handled scrubbie brushes, as it may be difficult to fit your hand in the space left uncovered by the attached lid.
