caring for your pottery

Pottery can last a lifetime.

Caring for handmade pottery is easy peasy. I personally would be a little more careful with handmade pottery than factory-made pottery simply because of the time that goes into it and the subsequent cost, but most pieces I make are completely dishwasher and microwave safe. I have a short guide to caring for your madhouse ceramics original pieces below.

Pottery Care Guide:

if your pottery is made with any kind of gold decorations on it -

hand-wash recommended, cannot go in the microwave

(the gold really is real gold, and we don’t want a fun sparky-spark party in the microwave)

~

if your pottery does not have any kind of gold decorations on it -

go right ahead and stick that sucker in the dishwasher/microwave

it’ll be totally fine under normal dishwasher settings

(I did have a decal fade on one of my personal mugs when we accidentally hit the “super-max-high-temp-ultra-scrub” button, but have never had any issues with normal dishwasher settings)

Keep in mind, hand-washing will give ALL ceramics their longest life, even if it is dishwasher safe.
